A committee is a small deliberative assembly that is usually 

representative of a larger one. 

 

It can either be appointed or elected to be responsible for a particular task.

Committee reports requiring action that affects the larger assembly must be presented for a vote by the larger assembly.

RESEARCH COMMITTEE:   
Research historical events connected with a person, group, or object, identify and secure local historical collections  and artifacts to maintain an appropriate depository focusing on literature, art, religion, education, and politics of 

the African American Culture in Palm Beach County, Florida.  The scope goes beyond the local community to the rich colorful history of the African Diaspora.


EVENTS & FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE:  

Design, implement, and oversee a step by step short-term and long-term capital campaign,  telethons, mailings, 

pledge-campaigns, membership drives, and  donations to accomplish financial goals. 


COMMUNITY & PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE:   
Design and develop  marketing tools to assist in raising community awareness and support.  Develop campaign promotional theme of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center of Palm Beach County, Inc.

ARTS, CULTURE, & EXHIBITS COMMITTEE:   
Identify, review and recommend arts and craft exhibitors, cultural and artistic performers, authors, and  poets.

EDUCATION & TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE:   
Provide programs and services aimed at literacy for children and adults through historical and cultural workshops and seminars, including digital multimedia.


YOUTH COMMITTEE:

Develop programs that involve, attract, retain, and empower youth to be effective community leaders.


HISTORICAL RE-ENACTMENT/PHOTOGRAPHY COMMITTEE:   
Develop and explore oral histories of pioneers and biographical and autobiographical works.


HOUSING COMMITTEE:

Ascertain and study legal, financial requirements and opportunities for 

acquiring sites of buildings .  Obtain photos and descriptions of 

architectural designs and historical homes and buildings 

in the African American community. 


CORPORATE COMMITTEE :   
Identify and solicit  prospective donors to make contributions to the library/museum. 

FINANCE  COMMITTEE:   
Develop an annual operating budget, provide expense allocations, and disclosures.  

Submit budget to board and members. 


AUDIT COMMITTEE:   
Provide oversight and audit scheduling.   Review audit format.


LEGAL COMMITTEE:

Provide professional guidance relating to governance, contracts, and agreements involving: 

real estate transactions, bylaws, and partnerships with other entities, ownership of artifacts to be acquired and housed, policies including intellectual property, copyrights, and patents.
